So you want your own town? Ok, but remember towns require work. So if you don't want to work, forget about the meta game and just play some games.

The first step is you should understand how towns work and the economics of the Meta Game. You can learn all those details by reading our MetaGame Primer

Once you understand how towns work, you can start on your application. The application is sent to the current Aldermann, who must approve any new town. I suggest you contact the Aldermann and ask if they have any specific reuqirements. Please keep in mind that historically the Aldermann has been from Germany. Although they generally have very good english skills, it is wise to try and keep the language in your application as simple as possible. Remember most likely the person reading it has English as a 2nd language.

In the past, 2 to 4 new towns have been created each month, generally at the begining of the month. So you'll need a good application if you want your town approved. The reason most people start towns at the begining of the month is the first calendar month the town pays no taxes. So creating the town early in the month gives you the full benefit of this tax-free period.

There is no standard form for the town application, so I've put together a list of the things you should include. If some of these items do not apply to your town, then just omit them. Also, feel free to add other details you think help your cause.

  • The name of the New Town
  • List of the 4 founders(who will be the 4 starting town officers) include their current rank, current city and any experience they have with the meta game(briefly)
  • List of additional town founders. The longer this list the better. Only include people that have agreed to join your town. Also list their current rank and town.
  • Desired location for the town.
  • Brief description of the town. This is sort of your mission statement.
  • Planned landscaping theme. This may sound silly, but it shows you've thought things through.
  • Building order. This is where you list the first 5-10 buildings the town plans on building. Again you want to show that you have a plan for making the town viable.
  • Criteria for citizenship. You want to list both the requirements to join and to stay.
  • Blacklist criteria. This is your towns rules of conduct.
  • Partner towns. If you have worked out a partnership with any existing towns.
  • Custom rank names. If you are planning on custom names, list them.

Here is a small application to give something to work with.
