Ra - Instructions
The exciting game of gods, men and monuments

1. Preparation
From the chat window:

Type /join and press Enter to join the game;
Type /start and press Enter to begin the game (3-5 players).

Or if you prefer, you can use the game administration tools.
2. The Objective

The game lasts for three rounds, each representing one age in the troubled history of Ancient Egypt:

- the Old Kingdom
- the Middle Kingdom
- the New Kingdom

During these rounds each player tries to further the development by auctioning as much and as valuable counters as possible, paying with his sun pieces.

At the end of each round the players score points. The player with the most points after 3 rounds wins the game.

3. Sequence of play
The current player (whose name is marked in yellow) may either draw a counter or start an auction. To start an auction (officially you "call RA"), click on the big Ra picture. To draw another counter, click on the bag. If you happen to draw a Ra counter, you automatically start an auction. If the maximum of 8 counters has already been reached and you try to draw another one, you also start an auction automatically.

During an auction, all players can put one bid for the entire row of counters using one of their suns. The player who started the auction bids last. In case of an automatic auction, the name of the player who started that auction is printed in white in the header row, and no player is forced to make a bid. If nobody bids, the game continues with the next player's turn. If the auction was started because of a full row, and nobody bids, all counters are discarded.

If a player wilfully started an auction by "calling RA", his name is printed in yellow. The auction proceeds in the same way as above with a single exception: the player who started the auction must make a bid in case nobody else bids anything. This means the counters are always auctioned off.

If a player does not want to bid one of his suns, he clicks on the crossed out sun in the header row. Otherwise click on one of your own usable suns. The highest bidder gains the counters and also exchanges the sun he bid for the one that is currently on display in the header row. The exchanged sun will be available for bidding in the next round. If a player has used his last sun, he no longer takes part in the game until the start of the next round. He can neither start auctions, draw counters nor exchange wildcards (see below).

The yellow god counters can also be used as wildcards. If it is your turn (not during an auction) you can choose to exchange some of your wildcards against counters from the current row instead of drawing another counter or starting an auction. To do this, just click on the counter you want to get. If you do not want to exchange all your wildcards, click on the arrow that appears in the header row. All used wildcards are discarded. You cannot exchange your god counters against other god counters.
Black bordered counters are "death" counters. The player who gets these must discard 2 counters of the corresponding type. In case of a nile "death" you must discard flood counters first.

A round ends if either all players have used all their suns or a certain number of Ra counters (dependent on the number of players) has been drawn. These will be displayed by little orange dots in the header row. If the last of these Ra counters is drawn the round ends IMMEDIATELY (no more auction).

4. Scoring

After each round the players score points. In the first two rounds only the points for pharaos, civilisations, Nile, gold and gods are scored (listed in the same order as in the picture).

Pharaos: All players with the most pharao counters gain 5 points, all players with the least pharaos lose 2 points.

Civilisations: All players who do not own at least one civilisation lose 5 points. For 3/4/5 DIFFERENT civilisations you gain 5/10/15 points respectively.

Nile: For each Nile and each flood you gain 1 point, as long as you have at least one flood counter.

Any gold counts +3, any unused wildcard (god) +2 points.

IMPORTANT: at the end of each round the players keep only their pharaos, Niles (not floods) and monuments. All other counters are discarded. (To be precise: Discarded counters are completely removed from the game, i.e. cannot be drawn again)

After the third round, monuments and suns score points as well.

Monuments: For 1-6/7/8 different types of monuments you score 1-6/10/15 points respectively. In addition you score 5/10/15 points for 3/4/5 monuments of the same kind.

Suns: The players with the highest suns (sum of numbers) score 5 points. The players with the lowest sum score -5 points.

The player with the most points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the highest single sun wins.

Counter mix: 30 RA, 8 gods, 25 pharaos + 2 deaths, 25 Nile + 12 floods + 2 deaths, 5x5 civilisations + 4 deaths, 5 gold and 5x8 monuments + 2 deaths.
