Manitou Rules
Only the Squaw beats the Chieftain!

1. Preparation for Play

With /join 1 (.2... 4) one can enter the game.
With /start, the game (2-4 players) begins.

The buffalo herd cards used for the game will be determined by the number of players. (See section three, below)

2. Playing Card Distribution

Each player gets 21 cards from which he or she must select eight cards. The cards consist of 11 hunter cards and 10 hero cards. The hunters are number cards, from one to ten, with the five occuring twice. There are five different hero cards (two of each): the Chieftain, the Medicine Man, the Rain Maker, the Scout, and the Squaw.
3. Buffalo Cards
Large Buffalo Card

Small Buffalo Card

With the hunter cards, the player hunts the three herds of buffalo, which are worth different point values. To do so, the player sets one number card per turn on the herd that he or she would like to hunt. The player who has the largest total of number cards on a herd of buffalo gets the points indicated by the buffalo card.
There are small and large buffalo cards.
The large buffalo cards show two point values; the small buffalo cards show only one point value. With two players, three small buffalo herds are laid out; with three players, one large and two small buffalo herds are used; and with four players, two large and one small buffalo herds are laid out. With the large buffalo cards, not only the player with the largest total at the end of the turn receives points, but also the player who sent the most hunters on the hunt. The player with the most hunters receives the smaller point value. (There is no score for the other players.) One player can score both values. Equal values result in no score!

4. Heroes

A second way to score points is to capture cards. To do so a player - exactly the same as with the hunters - plays a hero on one of the herds of buffalo. The strongest hero is shown in the color of the player who played it. In the example to the left, the red player played the medicine man (the helmet).
Any weaker heroes are shown in grey. In this example, green played a Rain Maker (cloud) prior to red's Medicine Man, which defeated it.
This table shows which hero is stronger than the others. The starting point is always the middle line.
Above the center hero, one can see which heroes are able to defeat the hero in question. Below the hero are which ones it defeats.
So, on the far left, one finds the Chieftain. It is defeated by the Squaw (tent) and defeats the Medicine Man, the Rain Maker, and the Scout.
At the end of the round, the active hero defeats all opposing heroes, and all opposing heroes and hunters are captured. Each prisoner counts one point. One gets their own hunters and defeated heroes back and can send them back onto the hunt the next turn. Heroes lost to other players are lost for the remainder of the game, however.
In this example, the Medicine Man takes three prisoners, and thus scores three points for red.

5. Sacrifices

In order to protect his or her own active hero, a player may play a second hero to a buffalo herd. (No more than two active heroes may be played to a single herd, however.) The stronger active hero is now protected by the weaker one, because the opponents must defeat the weaker hero before defeating the other one. However, the attacking hero is sacrificed, as it "dies" as well. Both the aggressor and the protecting hero will become inactive, and therefore grey. The next opponent can now defeat the active hero.

In this example, the green Scout is protected by the green Medicine Man. Red sacrifices his Chieftain: the red Chieftain and the green Medicine Man both become grey. Now either red or blue may defeat the Scout.

6. Gameplay
A hand of 3 cards of 8
Fermat is winning :)

A game consists of three rounds. At the beginning of each round, a player sees all of his or her remaining cards and must select eight. These eight cards are shuffled and the three top cards form a hand. If it is your turn, you click and drag one of these three cards to the buffalo herd where you would like to play it. One can tell whose turn it is by the asterisk by the name in the box at the top of the screen. (Here it is Fermat's turn.)

Afterward, one draws the next card. Altogether, only sever cards are played per round, however, so the one card will be held, unplayed, in hand at the end of the round. Once everyone has played their seven cards, the round is over. Each player must click one in the middle of the playing field to start the next round.

7. Scoring

The player with the highest score of hunters on each buffalo herd get the highest point total shown on the herd (in this example, red scores 13 points). The second highest score gets the smaller score shown (here, 3 points for blue). At the end, an active hero captures all opposing cards and scores one point per prisoner (in this example, blue gets nine points). The buffalo card will indicate each score by the appropriate player's color.
Finally, there is a score of -10 points which goes to the player who played the most hunters (number cards) in the round across all the buffalo herds.

8. Game end

The game ends after three rounds.
The player with the most points wins.
