Getting Started
- What is Brettspielwelt?
Brettspielwelt (BSW) is an online gaming site where you can play about 50 different board games
in real time against other players. Most of the games on BSW are produced in Germany. Some
people like to call these types of games "German games"; other people use the term "Eurogames".
- Do I need to register?
No, you do not. You can play as a guest. However, if you play as a guest you will be limited
in what commands you can use and the server will not save a record of your game results. Also,
if you don't register someone else might later use your username.
- Do I have to pay anything to use Brettspielwelt?
No, it is completely free.
- How do I register?
Just click on this link to register. You'll be taken to the registration page.
- Everyone tells me I should get the client, what is that all about?
You can connect to BSW via a java enabled web browser. Or you can download the BSW client program.
We tell people to download the client because it is simply better. It will load much faster since
all of the graphics files will be on your computer. (This is especially important for people on slow internet connections.)
In addition the client menus can be customized with frequently used commands, and you can save your username and
password so you are logged on automatically.
- I don't understand German, is that a problem?
No it isn't. Almost everything is in English. However if you'd like to learn a few German words and
phrases so you can communicate better with German players, please check out our
German Language Page
