Brettspielwelt FAQ - The Client

The Client
  1. Does it really matter which client I use?
    I think so. I recommend that you get the client program with the Java VM built-in. I would estimate that 95% of the problems I've people have with the client was with people that downloaded the client without the Java VM. Furthermore, downloading the client with the Java VM solved their problem.

    Java is a moving target, new versions are being released on a regular basis. Each of these versions have slight differences. If you use the client with builtin Java VM you are assured that the version of Java you run is the same as the version the BSW programmers used. Different Java versions seems to be the cause of most client problems.

  2. What is a prop file?
    If you have the Brettspielwelt client program installed, you will have a file named brettspielwelt.prop in the directory that you installed the client into. This file controls the customization of the client. You can use this fle to save your username and password for auto-login, to customize your menus, PFkeys, colors and language.

    For complete details on how to modify the prop file,

  3. How do I set my language to english?
    You can do this 2 ways. By using the /language command, by typing
    /language en
    or by adding the following line to your brettspielwelt.prop file:
    Nation = en
